Anglage is filing a forty-five degree bevel along every edge of every bridge and then polishing it to a mirror. On the Nocturne there are four metres of edge.
Why not a machine
A machine can bevel a straight edge beautifully. It cannot do an inward corner — the tool has a radius and the corner does not — and the inward corners are precisely where the eye goes.
Hour ninety
The last twenty hours are polishing, with a wooden stick and diamond paste, and they are what separates a skeleton movement from a movement with holes in it.
